Joytify is a music streaming and playlist app built around sound quality and discovery — high-bitrate streaming, time-synced lyrics, and search that actually finds the recording someone has in their head. We designed and built the mobile app end to end.
The Challenge
Most free-tier music apps quietly cut corners on the details that make listening feel good: compressed audio, lyrics that are static or missing, and search that returns the wrong version of a song more often than the right one. The brief was to build a listening app that treats those details as the product, not as an afterthought behind a subscription paywall.
What We Built
- True 320kbps AAC streaming by default, so tracks sound the way they were mixed rather than the compressed version most free apps quietly serve.
- Time-synced lyrics that scroll and highlight in step with the track, built for singing along rather than just reading static text.
- Search spanning studio tracks, live versions, covers, and video in one query, so the exact recording someone wants is the first result, not the fifth guess.
- Custom gradients and themes across playlists and now-playing screens, so a user's library feels personal rather than templated.
